The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu, has assured that the people of Obio/Akpor will turn out in overwhelming numbers in 2027 to vote for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Dr. Worlu stated this on Monday during a crucial meeting of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Rivers State Chapter, held at the Obio/Akpor Council Secretariat.
The meeting recorded a major political milestone as the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Hon. Sir (Dr.) Chidi Lloyd., moved a motion endorsing President Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. The motion was seconded by the Chairman of Khana LGA, Dr. Thomas Bariere, and subsequently put to vote by the ALGON Chairman and Mayor of Port Harcourt City LGA, Sir Hon. Allwell Ihunda. It received unanimous approval from all 23 Local Government Chairmen, their vice chairmen, and councillors.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Worlu emphasized that politics is firmly rooted in the grassroots and noted that the people of Obio/Akpor will demonstrate massive electoral support for President Tinubu in 2027. He explained that the President has earned the goodwill of the people through the numerous federal appointments given to illustrious sons of the LGA and through his development-driven leadership.
He described the 2027 elections as an opportunity for Obio/Akpor to show appreciation, listing what he termed their “first vote of gratitude” — the appointment of their son and leader, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike – CON, GSSRS, POS Africa, Life Bencher, as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Dr. Worlu further highlighted other significant appointments bestowed on sons of Obio/Akpor:
Barr. O.C.J. Okocha, SAN – Ambassadorial Nominee
Chief Hon. Tony Okocha – Rivers State Representative, NDDC
Hon. Chukwuemeka Aaron – Commissioner, Federal Character Commission
Barr. Frank Owhor – South-South Representative, North-East Development Commission
Chief Hon. Anthony Okeah – Commissioner, FCT Civil Service Commission
Professor. Nnamdi Akani – Executive Director, Planning & Design, Niger Delta Basin Development Authority
He stated that these appointments underscore President Tinubu’s trust in Obio/Akpor people—a trust he said will be reciprocated with resounding electoral support in 2027.
The Obio/Akpor council boss reaffirmed that the LGA will mobilize massively to ensure President Tinubu’s re-election and the continuation of his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Also speaking, the Leader of the Obio/Akpor Legislative Council, Hon. Rex-Milia Buchi Amadi, aligned fully with Dr. Worlu’s position. He noted that the councillors unanimously support the Chairman’s stance and encouraged President Tinubu to seek a second term, assuring him of Obio/Akpor’s total support.
